43% of the Austrian investors expect improvement of the economic climate in Bulgaria

Advantage Austria conducted a research among the Austrian companies in Bulgaria in the end of 2017, showing that 40% of them assess an overall positive economic development for the past year. Austria is in second place among the foreign investors in Bulgaria, at 4.124 mln. Euro, according to data from Bulgarian National Bank. The Austrian companies are some of the most secure and stable employers in the country with representatives such as Mtel, EVN, Raiffeisen, OMV, Vienna Insurance Group, Billa, Kronospan, Knauf, Uniqa, Palfinger, Baumit and others.

According to the poll, Bulgaria is such an attractive investment market due to the abundance of employees, the high qualification of specialists. At the same time representatives of the Austrian companies wish to see bigger change regarding corruption, the predictable economic politics and legal security. Other desirable reforms are less bureaucracy, political stability and others.

The research was conducted in Romania, Serbia and Hungary – countries, competitors to Bulgaria in terms of attracting investors. According to experts recently Bulgaria is a desirable investment destination because of the low taxes and cost-effective labor costs.
